Article II: Transfer to School Buildings Maintenance Expendable Trust Fund

• I recommend a “yes” vote.  I believe that it is appropriate and prudent to set aside the relatively modest sum of up to $300,000 from our fiscal year-end unreserved fund balance in anticipation of future maintenance projects.  

Article III: Negotiated salary increase for the custodial/maintenance staff

• I recommend a “yes” vote.  

Article IV: Conditional article for the custodial/maintenance staff salaries

• I recommend a “yes” vote.

Article V: Negotiated salary increase for the secretaries, clerks, instructional teaching assistants, and kitchen staff

• I recommend a “yes” vote.

• I recommend a “yes” vote.  Bedford’s test scores are consistently higher than our peer districts and our teacher’s salaries are lower than our peer districts.  I believe in paying for performance and our teachers deserve to be rewarded for this superior performance.
